Himbeermilch

Intention

The multimedia work Himbeermilch is dedicated to illustrating the hidden inner world of living beings and the profound connection between humans and nature. This inner vitality is reflected in all forms of nature, which not only shape our environment but are also an essential part of ourselves.

All visible forms of the world – whether animals, plants, or invisible beings like spirits and deities (transcendent entities) – possess an inner life force. “For many Indigenous peoples, animals and plants are not mere objects of the environment, but beings with whom they maintain social and spiritual relationships.” (Philippe Descola, The Forms of the Visible).

Performance

In this work, the concept of inner life is made visible through performance. I invite performers to act as translators. Through their movements and actions, they make the presence of the absent felt, dissolving the boundary between the outer and inner world.

“Nature is not the Other but part of the same braid of relationships that connects us all.” (Philippe Descola, The Forms of the Visible). This perspective reflects the central approach of the project: nature is not merely our surroundings but permeates us and shapes our existence.
